Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 4, 2026

Welcome to Gobstagram. We are a small, independent community site. We believe privacy policies should be easy to read, so we’ve written this in plain English to explain exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

1. Information We Collect

When you use Gobstagram, we collect a few pieces of information to make the site work:

  • Account Information: We use Discord for login. When you log in, we receive your Discord ID, username, and avatar. We do not receive your Discord password.
  • Profile & Posts: Any text, images, or CSS you upload to your profile or feed is stored on our server so other users can see it.
  • Bluesky Integration (Optional): If you choose to connect your Bluesky account for cross-posting, we store your Bluesky handle and an encrypted version of your Bluesky App Password.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information strictly to run Gobstagram. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for targeted advertising, and we do not share it with third-party data brokers.

3. Site Analytics & Cookies

We use a privacy-first analytics system to see how many people visit the site and which pages are popular. Here is how it works:

  • No IP Tracking: We do not store your raw IP address. We use a daily-rotating mathematical hash, which lets us count unique visitors for the day without being able to track you across multiple days.
  • No Third-Party Trackers: We do not use Google Analytics or any other external tracking scripts. All analytics data stays entirely on our own server.
  • Cookies: We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in while you browse. This is a strictly necessary functional cookie — it does not track you across other websites.

4. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data. Your Bluesky App Password (if provided) is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. However, remember that any content you post to your public feed or profile is visible to anyone on the internet.

5. Deleting Your Data

If you want to delete your account and all associated data (posts, comments, and profile information), please contact the site administrator via Discord.

6. Third-Party Attributions

Our local analytics system uses IP geolocation to show us what countries our visitors are from. This product includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from https://www.maxmind.com.
